A growing number of clubs at our level are looking into the finances surrounding the installation of artificial pitches. Clubs are able to hire out the surface as many times as they can during a normal week. Something that a club with the usual grass surface is unable to do.
Estimates suggest that the initial circa £500K to install a 4G surface could pay for itself within 3 years saving the yearly cost of replacing a current grass pitch with a new grass pitch which is an expensive yearly cost to the club.
Unfortunately as a club we can't contemplate any change unless a financial wind fall comes our way.
The chances of that are unlikely under the current ownership and the only way we could afford such a long term investment is to achieve a long and profitable FA Cup run.
Clubs with an artificial pitch are hiring their pitch a numerous sports from football all the way to hockey with little if any damage to the surface.

Re: O/T Artificial pitches
I was at Worcester Warriors at the weekend and they had.
Lots of clubs in the NWC leagues have them and Longridge are looking at installing one. I do think it affects the game quite a bit it always seems quicker and the ball seems to be bounce more leading to not as much quality and everything been rushed.

It would be an admission that we're not aiming to return to the Football League any time soon.
